“Partnering with Sellafield Ltd and CforLP we are offering smaller organisations in West Cumbria the chance to secure a bursary to fund a place on a bespoke leadership development programme.”

 Luke Richardson,

 Social Impact Manger, OneAIM

The bursary scheme is now closed. We will re-open applications in October/November 2020.

Bursaries are being made available by OneAIM, Sellafield Ltd and the Centre for Leadership Performance which will support the development of small business, education and the third sector leaders in West Cumbria.

Leader to Leader is an eight-month leadership development programme aimed at senior leaders who want to improve their leadership capability in a collaborative and practical way. The course is run by a local not for profit The Centre for Leadership Performance.

The programme offers a highly individual learning journey with time for reflection, observation and application of learning back in the workplace. The eight months allow a gradual, evolving approach with many opportunities to problem solve and integrate learning in a practical and business-focused way with the support of other local leaders. You can find out more about the course here.

Four small business leaders, two primary school leaders and two third sector leaders will benefit from the bursaries which are being made available by OneAIM (a joint venture between Interserve and Wood), Sellafield Ltd and CforLP. This follows similar offers in 2017 and 2018 which have seen leaders from smaller organisations supported to take part in Leader to Leader.

Applications are open from 7th to 31st October. Those chosen for a bursary will be notified by 15 November.

FAQ’s

Who can apply? Small business leaders, primary school leaders or third sector leaders (see the criteria below for further detail).

What does the bursary cover? The full cost of a place on Leader to Leader is £3,850 plus VAT. Bursaries are available to cover the full cost of a place.

Why are you offering the bursary? Leadership is important in all organisations. OneAIM, Sellafield Ltd and CforLP recognise that the cost of the programme can be a barrier for smaller organisations who want to develop their leadership capability. Small businesses, education and the third sector have a valuable role to play in the success of the local economy and our local communities. We are therefore offering bursaries to widen participation in leadership development and encourage the collaboration of organisations in the local economy.

If I am awarded a bursary, what is expected from me? First and foremost, we ask that you can commit the time and effort necessary to maximise this opportunity, circa 15 days and an openness and willingness to learn and support the learning of others.
