Bursaries are now available for the Leader to Leader program, made available by OneAim, Sellafield Ltd and the Centre for Leadership Performance which will support the development of small business and the third sector leaders in West Cumbria.

The Leader-to-Leader programme was created for existing managers with more than 5 years management experience, who are looking to develop their leadership skills and improve business performance. However, the bespoke nature of the format and the importance of ensuring that any particular cohort has a broad range of delegates means that this can be flexible – so please discuss your requirements with us.

The programme offers a highly individual learning journey with time for reflection, observation and application of learning back in the workplace. The eight months allow a gradual, evolving approach with many opportunities to problem solve and integrate learning in a practical and business-focused way with the support of other local leaders.  It also offers the opportunity to learn from other delegates within the cohort.  Throughout the program, delegates will have the opportunity to take part in the following sessions;

Workshops

1x 2 day workshop (including overnight stay) and 5 further workshops delivered in a combination of face to face and online formats.

Consultancy Challenge

Delegates work together on a specific strategic issue that they choose. Workshop sessions will share tools, models and new knowledge to help participants work on the issues as well as providing time for discussion and action.

Shadowing

Each delegate will be partnered with another from a different organisation, providing support and guidance throughout.

Action Learning

Action Learning offers participants: continued personal development; listening and feedback skills development; the opportunity to work on individual issues; help in embedding learning within their organisation.

1:1 Coaching

Delegates will have access to 1:1 coaching with the Programme Leader who will support you to achieve learning goals and encourage you to apply the learning from the programme.

Programme Support, Further Resources, Reflection and Evaluation

These will be delivered and supported throughout the programme by the Programme Leader and through regular communication with participants’ sponsors.

You can find out more about the course here.

Up to four small business leaders and two third sector leaders will benefit from the bursaries which are being made available by OneAim (a joint venture between Jacobs and Mitie), Sellafield Ltd and CforLP. This follows similar offers in previous years, which have seen leaders from smaller organisations supported to take part in Leader to Leader.

FAQ’s

Who can apply?

Small business leaders or third sector leaders (see the criteria below for further detail).

What does the bursary cover?

The full cost of a place on Leader to Leader is £4,235 plus VAT. Bursaries are available to cover the full cost of a place.

Why are you offering the bursary?

Leadership is important in all organisations. OneAIM, Sellafield Ltd and CforLP recognise that the cost of the programme can be a barrier for smaller organisations who want to develop their leadership capability. Small businesses and the third sector have a valuable role to play in the success of the local economy and our local communities. We are therefore offering bursaries to widen participation in leadership development and encourage the collaboration of organisations in the local economy.

If I am awarded a bursary, what is expected from me?

First and foremost, we ask that you can commit the time and effort necessary to maximise this opportunity, circa 15 days and an openness and willingness to learn and support the learning of others.
